CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

BALLET
A classical dance form consisting of precise movements and body positions. Students will concentrate on posture, body alignment, poise, grace, flexibility, strength and coordination. Strong ballet technique is essential for other dance forms including jazz, contemporary, lyrical and acro. Class level placements are based on level, previous experience, age and are at the discretion of the teachers.

JAZZ
Jazz is a dynamic and energetic dance form consisting a many difference styles. Classes will concentrate on body isolations, rhythm and musicality and developing the strength and control for leaps and turns. It is highly encouraged to be enrolled in at least one ballet class per week

ACRO
Acrobatics training focuses on flexility, contortion and strength. The goal aims to combine acro skills seamlessly and fluidly into dance choreography. Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling are the key elements of acro and can help supplement many other styles of dance. Acro students must be enrolled in at least one ballet class. Placements are based on skill level and not age.

MODERN/CONTEMPORARY/LYRICAL
Modern is a dance genre that utilizes the entire body, including the torso, spine, and limbs, to create dynamic and expressive movements. Classes include styles including Horton, Graham and Limon and more. Contemporary dance is a combination of difference styles including ballet, modern, jazz and acro. Lyrical dance draws heavily from ballet and jazz techniques and is characterized by its expressive and emotionally driven movements. All students are required to be enrolled in at least one ballet class per week.

TAP
In Tap class dancers get to make the music with their feet. Students will have fun developing rhythm, timing and working on proper tap technique. Tap shoes are required  (see dress code for different levels)

YOUTH HIP HOP
Our Youth Hip Hop is a high energy class that encourages improvisation and personal style. It is an extremely popular style that emphasizes rhythm and coordination. Clean sneakers or athletic shoes with white or light colored soles are required.

BALLET-JAZZ DEVELOPMENT CLASS
This combo class is for students who are ages 8-13 that have novice level experience. This class will concentrate on building the basic foundations of ballet and jazz technique for students with limited previous training. Dancers will enjoy a fun recreational class and will have the opportunity to perform. Ballet and Jazz Shoes are required

PRE-DANCE COMBO
Ballet - Tap - Acro
Our Pre Dance Combo is a perfect class for our little ones ages 2.5-5 to explore movement in a fun, safe and structured environment. This class will provide an introduction to dance with a special focus on motor skills development, coordination and balance as well as learning about proper classroom etiquette. Ballet shoes and Tap shoes are required
